I ride for a lot of reasons. To be outside. To move my body. To intentionally notice all the little details: Herons or a pile of turtles sunbathing along the canal, deer casually crossing my path, eastern redbuds in bloom, inviting little cafes or breweries that promise a cozy treat. And riding with others (shared miles, shared moments, shared stories) supports a sense of connection.
I’m riding this 50-mile fundraiser for the Center for Youth’s LGBTQ+ programs, including the Big Queer Prom, youth support groups, and Arnett House, which provides emergency housing for LGBTQ+ and trafficked homeless youth.
This work matters to me because I share an identity with this community, and I believe it is critical that LGBTQ+ young people are seen, supported, and affirmed. These programs provide safety, consistency, and care at moments when they are needed most.
If you’re able, please consider sponsoring a mile or contributing whatever feels right. Every donation directly supports this work and truly makes a difference.
As a thank you, @Wendys_big_bowls will send the top two donors a handmade ceramic mug or snack bowl.
Grateful for any support and to show LGBTQ+ young people that they are cared for not only by riders, but by their broader community.
