May Newsletter

Hello R4P Bikers and Support Crew,
We are currently at 57 registered riders and we have raised $17,456 for the Center for Youth’s LGBTQ+ programming! Thank you to all the riders who have linked their fundraising page to our R4P website and started their fundraising. Ride 4 Pride is first and foremost a fundraiser and we appreciate you!
1) Our logistics page on our website (Ride4Pride.org) is up and running! The password to get in is “R4P.” On the site you’ll find our April News & Notes. If you registered for the ride recently, you would have missed this information, so please check it out. Also listed on this page is our training ride schedule. As we get closer to ride day, we’ll be posting the map of the ride and the agenda for the day. Please remember that information on this page is for your eyes only. We don’t want anti-LGBTQ+ people knowing our start/end location or our route.
2) Our R4P shirt order deadline is May 20. If you know someone who has been invited to ride but hasn’t registered yet, please light a small fire under their tush.
3) This year at R4P, we’re going to have name tags for riders and volunteers. We’ll ask you to write your name and, if you feel comfortable doing so, your pronouns on the tag. If you’re someone whose pronouns are always used correctly, you may wonder why you should bother displaying them. Here’s a brief video that helps explain why displaying your pronouns is such a great ally action. Why Share Pronouns video
4) For those of you who missed the memo and are wondering why your fundraising page doesn’t appear on our list of riders, here are the steps you need to take to make this happen. Send your Givecloud fundraising link to our website wizard, Craig, at [email protected], with permission for it to be posted on our website. It’s highly encouraged that you also send us a photo and a write up about why you’re biking. Use this link when you fundraise so your donors can understand why fundraising for LGBTQ+ youth is important to you. Check out Kellie’s page for an example of a completed page: https://ride4pride.org/kellie-ronald/
5) Towpath Bikes, on the Erie Canal Trail in Pittsford, is one of our sponsors and they are offering complimentary bicycle safety checks to all Ride 4 Pride riders during the week leading up to the ride. Bike checks include simple adjustments, quick chain clean and lubrication, air in tires, and a safety check so all participants can enjoy their bike ride worry free. Please plan to drop your bike off for a short time while they go through the process. No need for an appointment, just stop by the week of the ride with your bicycle and tell them you’re a R4P biker. Our contact there is co-owner, Brandon.
Hope to see y’all at one of our upcoming training rides.
Shift Happens!
Alec, Jeannie, and Kellie
